Where Are You

Where are you?
Here am I
Where are you?
Here am I
Where are you?
Here am I, I’m telling you, here am I
Stop with your cries and open your eyes

My eyes are open, but all I see is your blank stare
Onto a screen, paying no attention to me without care

So I ask again, where are you?
Here am I, I’m telling you, here am I
Away with the folly that adheres and open your ears

My ears are open, but all I hear is you speak
About things on the web, over me that you pick

Listen to my advice and put down the device
Speak to me, your imagination, and together let’s make a new creation
A new poem, a new thought, or a new story
So in the future you will not be sorry
That you spend your youth looking down on your phone
Staring at what others shared that is not your own
Spend time with me and use your brain
Stop with the mindless activities that in the end are all vain

Alright, now I see what you mean
The things I was blinded to, in my eyes were unseen
Please forgive me for saying that I was here
But in reality, I was no where near

This isn’t the type of life I want to look back to when I’m old
I want to live my life to the fullest, watch as adventures unfold

One day, together, we will write, the greatest story ever told
